INterCHANGE: Arts in Contemporary & Traditional Culture

The Center for Integrated Arts Education with support from the School of Art and Design at the University of Northern Colorado and The National Endowment for the Arts, is pleased to announce the 10th Annual Arts Education Leadership Institute.

Join artists, scholars, and educators as they discuss intersections of traditional and contemporary cultures expressed through the arts.

This year's Institute, INterCHANGE, will offer workshops and presentations supporting interdisciplinary instructional practices and providing accurate information about cultural heritages and current practices. This Institute will provide a space to reflectively consider deeply personal and socially controversial issues embedded in discussions of tradition, identity and power.

About

The Center for Integrated Arts Education (CIAE) was established at the University of Northern Colorado in the Fall of 2006.

CIAE provides research and professional development in arts learning centered in multi-disciplinary explorations. The Center brings nationally known artists and educators to Colorado to engage with local teachers, artists and the community to develop new and viable ideas in the arts and classroom practice. We offer resources for trans-disciplinary learning, leadership training, facilitated planning and arts workshop opportunities for Colorado teachers, administrators, artists and arts education advocates.

CIAE is supported by School of Art and Design at the University of Northern Colorado, the National Endowment for the Arts, and private foundations.

The College of Performing and Visual Arts at the University of Northern Colorado and the Center for Integrated Arts Education were listed by the Dana Foundation in the publication Transforming Arts Teaching, The Role of Higher Education (eds. Pollin, J & Rich, B 2008), as one of selected 24 universities improving K-12 arts education.
