On The Road

Mesa Verde Workshop

June 18-22 MTWRF, 8-5:00pm

The emphasis of the class will focus on the chronological and artistic development of the archeological sites and their relationship as a natural structure environment. The course has been scheduled to give maximum exposure to the archeological sites at Mesa Verde and nearby Delores and Lowery sites. Development of Anasazi style will emphasize distinct regional variations evident in the Mesa Verde area

Photography at Mesa Verde & UNC

June 18-30 MTWRFS, 1:00-5:00pm

Students will spend a week photographing the powerful scenery and cultural artifacts at Mesa Verde National Park. This workshop is open to all photographic media and camera formats. The second week is devoted to processing the images and critique/sharing. The first week is on location at Mesa Verde, second week in studio at UNC in Greeley.

Digital Illustration

This course is designed to introduce techniques used for concept visualization as a cross-disciplinary, research based environment. Connections between data presentation in digital media will be discussed. The course will support student in knowledge related to design, art, and page layout of a work of art & design that merges disciplines to illustrate scientific and other kinds of data. 3 credit course

Interactive Media

May 29-June 9, MTWRFS 8:00-12:30

This workshop will explore the creative methods, tools and processes involved with web, mobile and electronic publishing media. Projects introduce a variety of design concepts utilizing new and emerging media. Beginning to intermediate web design skills are helpful, but not required. 3 credit course

Collographs

JUNE 25-July 30 MTWRF, 9:00-noon

The word calligraphy comes from the union of two words, collage and graphic. implying a connection between the method of construction and subsequent printing of an image. A collograph plate is made in the manner of a collage: cutting and pasting paper and other textural elements. Rather than existing as an end in itself, this plate is then printed in intaglio and/or relief methods.

Jewelry Workshop

July 23-August 3 MWF 9:00-6:00

There has been very few new technological developments in the field of jewelry making for many centuries. Until recently, with the development of powered metal technology we have an incredibly diverse way of working metal with Precious Metal Clay (PMC). PErfect fro teachers because the tools can be as simple and inexpensive as a watercolor brush, popsicle stick and your fingers.

Raku Pottery Workshop

June 13-24, MTWRFS, 8-12:30pm

An exploration of raku pottery with an emphasis placed on appropriate wheel thrown forms for the application raku pottery. Glazes, chemistry, firing, and kiln building will take place during this two-week class. Stoneware and soda kiln will also be available during the course.

Watercolor Workshop

June 11-23 MTWRFS, 8-12:30pm

Application & exploration of the properties of watercolor; handling techniques, supports and grounds, and possibilities for combination with other media. Experiment with various approaches to painting in order to develop original creative imagery. Some sessions off-campus/on-site landscape field sessions; participation must supply their own transportation and painting supplies.

Adventures in Letterpress Printing

June 25-July 7 MTWRFS, 8:00-12:30

Letterpress printing is gaining popularity with artists as a new expressive medium. Participants will learn to use both traditional type as well as photopolymer plate to create their artwork. We will be exploring printing on paper, fabric, and other 2-dimensional media, so students are encouraged to experiment.

Sculpture Workshop: Exploring Cold Casting

June 25-July 7, MTWRFS, 8-12:30pm

This workshop will explore the production of relief sculpture and in the round: freestanding sculptural works. The use of "cold cast" materials and processes will be the focus of this workshop.
