All applicants will submit the following application materials based on their desired degree program.

Application Requirements for Undergraduate Applicants

Undergraduate music education applicants will apply for their primary instrument or voice studio. Use buttons below to navigate to the appropriate page.

Application Requirements for Master of music Applicants

  • Complete all required application questions
  • 3-4 letters of recommendation
  • Statement of purpose
  • Resumé
  • Upload sample of scholarly writing
    Note: Applicants are encouraged to upload two to four letters of recommendation addressing teaching abilities, potential for success in graduate studies, musicianship, and collegiality.

Application Requirements for doctor of arts Applicants

  • Complete all required application questions
  • 3-4 letters of recommendation
  • Statement of purpose
  • Resumé
  • Upload sample of scholarly writing
  • Upload or provide link(s) to a video of a teaching episode that demonstrates that applicant’s instructional abilities
  • Upload or provide link(s) to a video, approximately 15 minutes in duration, that demonstrates the applicant’s performing ability on their primary instrument or voice. Two pieces of contrasting styles are recommended.
    Note: Applicants are encouraged to upload two to four letters of recommendation addressing teaching abilities, potential for success in graduate studies, musicianship, and collegiality.

Note: Accompanists are not required, but the applicant may provide one.

Audition Requirements for Master of Music and Doctor of Arts

  • It is recommended that the candidate submit a video, about 20 minutes in duration, which shows a teaching episode representative of the applicant’s instructional abilities.
  • An audio recording, about 10 to 15 minutes in duration, which demonstrates the applicant’s performing ability on their primary instrument or voice. Two pieces of contrasting styles are recommended.
  • An in-person audition may be done in lieu of the above requirements.

MUSIC EDUCATORS INTENSIVE

Video examples of teaching, and an audition or audio recording of performing abilities are not required for applicants to the MEI (Music Educators Intensive) Master of Music Program
