Course scheduling for music education classes

Checkpoint courses

Checkpoint courses are zero-cost, zero-credit "paperwork" courses which you complete as part of your field experience requirements. EDFE 110 should be taken immediately upon accumulating 15 credits. EDFE 120 is completed after passing the piano proficiency, and after passing MUS 210. EDFE 130 is taken the semester before student teaching.

EDFE 110 and EDFE 120 can be taken in the summer, at no cost. Post-baccalaureate licensure-seeking students should register instead for EDFE 125, immediately upon starting their program at UNC.

UNC Public Class Schedule

PLACE or Praxis II test
Prospective student teachers should take the PLACE test, or the Praxis II Music: Content Knowledge Test (#5113), ONE YEAR PRIOR to the planned student teaching semester, and must pass the test prior to student teaching. The passing score for the Praxis II test is 156.
