Dr. Dahlke’s degrees are from the University of Michigan (BMA Jazz Studies, MM Education) and the University of North Texas (DMA Saxophone). His primary teachers are Larry Teal, Donald Sinta, Eugene Rousseau, Jim Riggs, and Tim Ries.

Dr. Dahlke has an active career as a performer and pedagogue in both the classical and jazz genres. Early in his career he worked as a jazz musician and composer in New York City. As a concert saxophonist, Dr. Dahlke has performed at home and abroad in recital and as an orchestral player and concerto soloist with groups including: the Gangnam Symphony (Seoul, Korea), the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Colorado Symphony, the Aspen Music Festival Orchestra, and the Seoul Wind Ensemble. Dr. Dahlke has been a clinician and performed at numerous universities including Indiana University, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Arizona State University, Penn State University, SUNY Potsdam, Hanyang University, and the Seoul National Arts University (Korea). As a member of the Capitol Saxophone Quartet, Dr. Dahlke has appeared across the U.S. in recital and with numerous orchestras including the Indianapolis Symphony and the Naples Philharmonic. He has presented his research in saxophone and jazz improvisation at NASA and IAJE conferences. Dr. Dahlke taught three years of K-12 vocal and instrumental music full-time and was a faculty member for the University of Michigan Youth Programs and at Interlochen National Music Camp. Dr. Dahlke previously taught at the 
University of North Texas and Texas Christian University. He is the elected treasurer for the North American Saxophone Alliance.
