Richard Fuchs, Professor of Music, is recognized as an outstanding performer, teacher, conductor and clinician. As a member of the violin-piano team FUCHS DUO, he continues to perform recitals on university campuses around the nation and frequently performs at conventions such as M.T.N.A. and the Society of American Composers. In addition, Fuchs has actively performed in Japan, Taiwan, and Korea, and has taught master classes at institutions such as the American University Music School in Taipei, Taiwan, Keim Yung University in Daegu, Korea, and the Music School at Changwon National University in Manson, Korea. He has also been invited to perform at the Contemporary Music Festival in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As soloist, Fuchs performs as guest artist with symphonies across the U.S. most recently performing the Brahms Double Concerto with the Inland Empire Symphony in California. Featured for the U.S. premiere performance of the Terzian Violin Concerto, Fuchs recorded the work on the Constantino label that is distributed throughout the U.S. and South America. Additionally, Fuchs actively performs as a member of the University of Northern Colorado Piano Quartet, as well as the FUCHS/FITTZ PIANO TRIO. As a noted clinician and conductor, Fuchs has appeared with All-State Orchestras in eight states. As a noted teacher, Fuchs specializes in the “use of natural body motions and body rhythm” which was cultivated through his studies with famed violin pedagogue, Paul Rolland, as well as Franco Gulli, Edward Melkus, and Andre Granat. Fuchs has received five awards as outstanding teacher from Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, and has served as President of the Arkansas and Colorado Chapters of the American String Teachers Association.
