Sara Heimbecker

Sara Heimbecker, musicologist and cellist, is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Illinois. She completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the University of Northern Colorado where she was recognized as an outstanding scholar and performer. After receiving a Fulbright Scholarship, Sara researched the music of Hans Rott, a contemporary of Gustav Mahler’s, in Vienna, Austria. Ms. Heimbecker was a member of the Wiener Akademischer Philharmonie in Vienna, and the chamber orchestra Ricercare Strumentale Italiano in Florence, Italy. She has recorded with the West German Rundfunk and toured with various orchestras throughout Europe. Ms. Heimbecker is a specialist in late nineteenth and early twentieth century music, with a particular interest in the Second Viennese School.
