ANNE TOEWE is an Associate Professor of Theatre Arts. Ms. Toewe joined the faculty in the School of Theatre Arts and Dance in 2003 and has served as the Resident Costume Designer since her arrival in Greeley. She became the Head of Design and Technology for STAD in 2005 and also serves as the Production Manager for UNC’s Little Theatre of the Rockies in the summers. Since her arrival at UNC Ms. Toewe has enjoyed the opportunity to design costumes for a broad variety of theatrical offerings, including Jekyll and Hyde, Bat Boy, Titanic, My Fair Lady, and The Elephant Man, to name a few. In the Spring of 2009, Ms. Toewe made her directorial debut at UNC with STAD’s production of Eclipsed. She additionally has been offered the opportunity to pursue her doctorate in Theatre at the University of Colorado at Boulder, a degree she hopes to have completed by the spring of 2011. Prior to her arrival in Colorado, Ms. Toewe designed and taught in a variety of venues on the east coast, including south Florida and Roanoke, Virginia. While in south Florida, Ms. Toewe received a Carbonelle nomination for Best Costume Design for GableStage’s production of The Dead. In addition to her design opportunities, Ms. Toewe taught make-up and costuming at New World School of the Arts (Miami), Broward Community College (Davie, FL), Florida Atlantic University (Boca Raton, FL), and Palm Beach Atlantic College (West Palm Beach, FL). Among Ms. Toewe’s favorite experiences in Florida were the costume designs for The Rocky Horror Show (Summer Rep., Boca Raton, Florida), The Mystery of Edwin Drood (New World School of the Arts, Miami, Florida), Angels in America (New theatre, Miami, Florida), and Romeo and Juliet (South Dade Auditorium), as well as the opportunity to work on several MTV music videos. Prior to relocating to Florida Ms. Toewe worked as a project manager at the notable Broadway costume build house Parsons-Mears. Ms. Toewe holds her bachelor’s degree in Biology from The College of William and Mary in Virginia, and her MFA in Costume Design from Tulane University in New Orleans.
