Professional/Academic Experience

Dr. Wolfgang is thrilled to be joining the UNC theater family. Dr. Wolfgang ran the musical theater program at Youngstown State University for 10 years, building the program to capacity. She received her PhD in Music Education from Kent State University. Areas of research focus on the development of the belt voice in the young female singer and acting the song. Dr. Wolfgang earned a MA in Musical Theater Performance from the prestigious Boston Conservatory. She is currently serving as the Vice President of Musical Theater for the South Eastern Theater Conference. Before that, Dr. Wolfgang served for five years as the collegiate representative to the Ohio Education Theater Association, and also as a delegate to the Ohio Faculty Council. Dr. Wolfgang is recognized nationally and internationally as a leading voice teacher in the area of musical theater and has presented and taught at multiple conferences. Before turning to education, Dr. Wolfgang lived and worked in New York City as an actress. Favorite roles include Christine in Phantom, Laurie in Oklahoma!, Guenevere in Camelot, Bobby/Gabbi in City of Angels, and Mrs. Malloy in Hello, Dolly!. Her students have worked for Disney, cruise lines, regional theaters, film, web series, and national tours. She recently returned from Norway where her students were featured in an international student showcase. Recent projects include The Spitfire Grill, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Hairspray!. Dr. Wolfgang has been recognized as a Nobel Educator of Distinction.
