Michael A. "Chip" Coronel

Michael A. "Chip" Coronel specializes in the traditional
native arts of Africa, South Seas and the Americas. He has conducted
research in Africa, South Seas, Europe, and Asia, and is a curatorial
consultant for the Denver Art Museum's African Art Collections. He has
won numerous teaching awards including the College of Performing and
Visual Arts Teacher of the Year. Twice he has been invited as a Visiting
Professor in the University of Pittsburgh's Semester-at-Sea Program.
He coordinates the art history program and teaches Art History Survey,
courses in African, Tribal, Pre-Columbian and Renaissance Art. Chip
also regularly teaches a summer course on the Pueblo Anasazi, as well
as a summer course in Italy on Early Italian Renaissance Art in Tuscany.
He is the Honors Visual Arts Advisor and a faculty member of the University
of Northern Colorado's Honors and Life of the Mind Programs. He has
published and curated numerous articles and exhibitions in his area
of specialization.
