Admission Requirements

Students planning to major or minor in Art & Design must submit an Application Form with an Entrance Portfolio (simply declaring an Art & Design major or minor does not ensure admission to the program). Upon acceptance to the School of Art & Design, students must complete the Foundation requirements before they can begin their advanced Art studies. The Foundation Courses include Art 181, 182, 183, 184 & 234, and must be completed with a cumulative average of 3.0 GPA. Students must also successfully complete the Foundations Portfolio Review.

Upon completion of the Foundation requirements, students may then choose an Art Emphasis program (Art, Visual Communication Design, or Art K-12 Teaching) or the Art & Design Minor Program. A prospective student must receive an official letter of acceptance from the School of Art & Design before he/she may register as an Art & Design major.
