About the Galleries

The Galleries are a teaching program of the School of Art and Design that supports UNC’s mission to promote student-centered, effective learning. Our exhibition program embraces curatorial risk-taking and highlights thought provoking and socially relevant context from regional and nationally recognized artists. The Galleries involve the participation of faculty and students as the advisors, co-curators, and collaborators that enable the program to often realize new work.

The Visiting Artist Program offers unique opportunities for students to engage with and learn from artists, curators and scholars to provide a closer look at how creative professionals live and work. Visitors present their work in public lectures and are integrated into curriculum through targeted classroom visits, individual student critiques, professional practice workshops and more!

Our Spaces

Campus Commons Gallery

Constructed in 2018, Campus Commons Gallery is the largest of our exhibition spaces, located in Campus Commons: A student-centered, hub of campus. CC Gallery hosts six originally curated, contemporary exhibitions per year. Each exhibition explores concepts and themes through interdisciplinary, exposing our students to a variety of processes, methods, and art making choices. Campus Commons Gallery is an originally curated exhibition space and does not accept unsolicited proposals.

Mariani Gallery

Since 1972, the Mariani Gallery has served the Northern Colorado and Weld County communities. Its outreach is increasingly growing to other nearby cities such as the greater Denver and Boulder areas. Since 2019, Mariani Gallery operates as a student-focused exhibition space under the guidance of School of Art & Design Adjunct Faculty members: John Lake and Eleanor Sabin.
