Vocal Revolution: A Jazz & Gospel Remix packs a punch as vocal masters and musical styles collide. NEA Jazz Master Sheila Jordan, “the singer with the millon-dollar ears,” commands the stage with UNC’s own Jazz Lab Band I, and Internet-sensation vocal group Kings Return, known for singing in stairwells, mixes it up with their masterful blend of classical, jazz, gospel, and R&B.

In an onslaught of rhythm and percussion, Latin Jazz Explosion storms in to get the hall jumpin’ to high-energy Latin dance music. Afro-Cuban band the Pedrito Martinez Group, “the real thing,” and legendary drummer Bobby Sanabria, with UNC Jazz Lab Band I, build up the excitement in this musical explosion.

To close the festival, the Zaremba Jazz Fellowship and renowned trumpeter Wayne Bergeron join forces for a musical collaboration based on Zaremba’s debut big band album, Reunion. The Fellowship creates a melodic and eclectic large jazz ensemble experience featuring Drew’s compositions and reimaginations of jazz standards, Chopin classics, and Pink Floyd hits.
