Artist Statement

American consumer culture revolves around the mass production, consumption, and disposal of objects that are meant to promise functionality and life improvement. This cyclical ritual leaves stacks of user manuals and mounds of deconstructed parts in its wake. Using the authoritative style of a diagram, I investigate the intersection of humans, objects, and environment. My large hand-drawn installations require intensive labor and crafting as I challenge concepts of quality, disposability and time. Using this format of production, objects are reimagined and recontextualized as artworks that challenge the economy of the art object.
