Professional/Academic Experience

Georgia native Dr. Benjamin Boskoff, Tenor, is a graduate from The University of Colorado Boulder (DMA), The University of Michigan School of Music(MM) and University of Georgia Hugh Hodgson School of Music(BM). An active vocal artist, Mr. Boskoff is actively engaged in productions, recitals, and chamber concerts in the United States and abroad, most recently in the Czech Republic. Mr. Boskoff specializes in the Bel Canto repertoire, the music of Benjamin Britten, and chamber music in both concert and recital settings. Highlights include: Peter Quint in Turn of the Screw with Red River Lyric Opera, Tamino in Die Zaubeflöte with Lawrence Opera Theatre, Count Almaviva in The Barber of Seville with Light Opera of New Jersey, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni and Prince Ramiro in La Cenerentola with Opera MODO, and Count Ory in Le Comte Ory with Lawrence University as a guest artist. In the summer of 2019, Mr. Boskoff was a resident artist with Opera North and covered Macduff and Malcolm in their production of Verdi’s Macbeth. He returned later that year as one of the cast members of their production of “All is Calm.” Following that summer, he continued work with several companies in the U.S during the COVID lockdowns and in 2022, Mr. Boskoff made his professional debut in Ohio with Opera Project Columbus singing Ernesto for their production of Don Pasquale and in Pennsylvania with Penn Square Music Festival singing Conte Almaviva for their production of Il barbiere di Siviglia.

Upcoming productions include: A world premier opera with Opera on Tap Colorado, the chamber music version of Schubert’s Winterreise in Nantucket, Dove’s Pinocchio in Boulder, Il Trittico in Boulder, the Evangelist role in the Johannes-Passion in San Antonio, Texas and several recitals around the U.S with his Tenor-Horn Initiative, the Staged Song Cycle Project, and other song and chamber societies.

Dr. Boskoff completed his doctoral studies at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he also teaches private voice, voice classes and specializes in lyric diction. His research has lead to an upcoming publication in concert with Dr. John Seesholtz’s Canciones Project on Czech vocal repertoire for undergraduate voices and the ongoing work to record Elliott Carter’s vocal chamber works. His studies under Dr. Freda Herseth (Michigan) in pedagogy have greatly influenced his teaching style, combined with his two past teachers, Dr. Gregory Broughton (UGA) and Dr. Scott Piper (Michigan). Mechanistic in understanding and practical in approach, Mr. Boskoff seeks to teach healthy, vocal phonation above all else - along with a deep connection with the visceral sensation of singing the text and emotion of the music.
