Dayvison Costa is an accomplished trumpeter and educator originally from Brazil. He
serves as an Assistant Professor of Classical Trumpet at the University of Northern
Colorado, position he earned in 2024. Prior to this prestigious appointment, he held
teaching positions at the University of North Texas, the University of Southern Mississippi,
and with the Marcus High School Marching Band.
Mr. Costa is in the final stages of completing his Doctorate in Trumpet Performance
at the University of North Texas where he held the Teaching Fellow position for two
seasons. After that, he became the trumpet instructor for the nationally recognized
Marcus High School Marching Band.
Throughout his career, Dayvison has held the role of Co-principal Trumpet with the
Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra, Arlington Symphony Orchestra, and Garland Symphony
Orchestra. His extensive performance experience also includes collaborations with
the McKinney Philharmonic Orchestra, East Texas Symphony Orchestra, Meridian Symphony
Orchestra, Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, Lone Star Wind Orchestra, Imperial Brass,
North Texas Wind Symphony, North Texas Symphony Orchestra, USM Symphony Orchestra,
USM Wind Symphony, and the Chamber Orchestra of the University of São Paulo. Additionally,
he has been an active freelancer in the DFW area, performing with brass quintets and
in musical productions.
As a soloist, Dayvison’s notable performances include the Concerto for Two Trumpets
by Erik Morales, alongside Dr. Raquel Samayoa and the University of North Texas Wind
Orchestra at the 2022 College Band Directors National Conference at Baylor University.
During the same event, he performed Paul Dooley’s Coast of Dreams. Later that year,
he made his mark in Brazil with the premiere of Philip Sparke’s Gemini Concerto for
Trumpet and Euphonium with the “Henrique Marques” Concert Band in his hometown of
Limeira.
Outside of his professional life, Dayvison cherishes time spent with his wife, Fran,
and their two children, Lucy and Ethan.
