For Fall 2021, the School of Music will only be providing digital programs, accessible via your event listing at tickets.unco.edu.

Room Reservations and Rentals

  • Vault Hours

    Vault Hours

The Vault is normally open from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday. We cannot guarantee that we will actually be available during the hours posted because our duties frequently require that we be in another part of the building, somewhere else on campus, or away from campus. If we are not there when you come by, please email Derek.Waston@unco.edu

  • Locker Rentals

    Locker Rentals

Lockers are available for rental in a variety of sizes by following these instructions:

    1. If this is your first time logging-in to the Locker/Key Request form, Create a New Account
    2. Fill out and submit the online form & pay the locker rental fee by credit card.
      • Lockers no longer come with locks, you may purchase a lock from UNC for $10 or supply your own.
    3. When your locker is ready, you will be notified via email.

    Locker Rental

The locker can be renewed on the same contract for sequential semesters, but a new contract must be signed for each school year.

At the end of each semester, any lockers that have not been renewed are either emptied of their contents (those contents are stored in the Vault to be picked up by the person who signed the locker contract).

  • Instrument Rentals

    Instrument Rentals

Instruments can be rented through the Vault for use by UNC students enrolled in music courses for classes and performances presented by PVA.

    1. If this is your first time logging-in to the Instrument Rental Form, Create a New User Account
    2. Complete the online rental form and pay the rental fee via credit card
      • First instrument - $35.00
      • Second instrument - $25.00
      • More than two instruments is a flat fee of $60.00
    3. You will be notified via email when your instrument is available for pickup.

    Instrument Rental

For those enrolled in Methods Classes (strings, woodwinds, or brass), the single $35 fee will transfer from one instrument to the next as you change instruments through the semester; however, a separate contract and additional fee of $25 is required for students taking more than one Methods class in a semester.

Rented instruments must be returned to the Vault by Wednesday of Finals Week each semester. A late fee of $5 per day will be assessed and charged to your student account for each calendar day after the due date. A Contract Extension may be requested if you need the instrument for a Final Exam on Thursday or Friday of Finals Week or if you need the instrument to play at the Commencement ceremony. Contracts will not be extended beyond the Monday following Finals Week and late fees will be assessed. If an instrument is not returned to the Vault within 30 days of its due date, the student will be charged the full replacement cost of the instrument as stated in the contract.

  • Online Room Request

    Online Room Request

Rooms in Frasier Hall and Campus Commons may be requested for student use by completing an online request form. Requests are processed in the order they are received, usually on the following business day. Submitting a request does not reserve the room; you will receive a confirmation email with the room reservation if we are able to fulfill your request.

Any classroom that is normally used for music classes may be requested. Rooms in the Music Library are reserved through the Library. Practice rooms may not be reserved. Milne Auditorium can only be used by the School of Music for recitals and dress rehearsals. We do not have access to Milne before 4:30pm on weekdays because it is disruptive to classes in Kepner.

*It is best to search by location for the room you would like to use. Frasier Hall rooms are designated as FRAS with a four digit room number, such as “0063" or “0249”.

  • Keys

    Keys

A select set of keys can be checked out on a short-term basis (1-3 days) from the Music Office in Frasier 108.

To request a key for long-term use, please fill out a Key Request Form. Keys may be requested by students, but will need to be approved by a faculty/staff member.

    1. If this is your first time requesting a key, Create a New User Account.

    3. Complete required fields and select the faculty member that will approve this request.

Curricular Practical Training

Curricular Practical Training: UNC School of Music students routinely participate in paid and unpaid teaching and performance opportunities both on and off campus to develop as performers and educators during their degree programs. Although the expectation is not explicit in the catalog requirements, practical application and participation is an expected and necessary part of the curriculum for all School of Music students. Students are expected to work with their applied teacher and area faculty to evaluate the applicability of teaching or performance opportunities to their program of study.
