RMSMT is the professional society for music theorists serving the Rocky Mountain region, which covers the U.S. states of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming, as well as the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Master of Music in Music Theory

Outstanding students of music theory have the opportunity to take graduate theory courses and have published their research in UNC's Undergraduate Research Journal; several of our students have gone on to pursue music theory at the graduate level. Graduate students select from a variety of courses in tonal and post-tonal theory as well as Music Theory Seminars featuring specialized topics.

Scholarships

The College of Performing and Visual Arts awards over $1.8 million in scholarships annually to undergraduate and graduate students in the arts.
